We IT coolies...

It has been 4 years since I completed my graduation and joined an IT company. When I look back these years, I realize the changes I have witnessed both in my professional life and in my personal life. I am here to neither whine about what I couldn't accomplish nor about my bad luck. This blog is just to make like minded people realize, that there are very good opportunities outside IT too, as a matter of fact they are better than IT.

Like every other fresh graduate, I too had lot of dreams and hopes. I too was excited and had high aspirations. But my question is how many of us get the right opportunity to excel or to prove ourselves. I was assigned to a production support team in an SAP Basis project which was in no way relevant to what I had studied during graduation or related to my training induction in one of the best IT companies in the world (An Indian Company, Of course). SAP Basis, of course has great market value but at the cost of our health. And to my knowledge and what little experience I had gained, all these Production support work can be done by a higher secondary pass-out with basic knowledge of computer handling. But, ultimately, we sell our health and peace for money.

Have these IT giants ever cared about its employee's or did the government ever worried about the condition their young generation is put into? After all, when did we loose our courage to stand against these? I feel education has made us cowards. Of course the world we live in is a very competitive place and the road to success is not a bed of roses. But Is it not the duty of educational institutes to teach us how to walk on these thorns while we enjoy the journey? No pains No gains. How many of our parents are well educated? How many of them had income all through the year? After all these, were not they bold enough to face the world? The human rights in their country does not allow people to work after 5. IT companies come here for cheap and flexible labor. We, for money, work round the clock compromising every thing in life.

In fact, IT companies pay you more than any other field. But have we ever thought about the quality of our lives. We don't get leave on Gandhi Jayanti but we celebrate Martin Luther King's b' day. We live far away from our loved ones. Lives have become more virtual nowadays. We Indians, all love to settle down in the new world, the United States of America. I know many people who live abroad leaving their family here in India. Oh yeah, we have technologies to see our new born son daily. But will it replace the feeling of hugging our son? This work culture has brought down the family structure, the discipline, the love, we had in the last generation. We all are wonder struck with their world and we never want to come back even though they forcefully push us our of their country. But we never care to build India such one. America is just 500 years old and I don't think anybody knows how old exactly India is. When did they overtake us? When we were fighting between ourselves. Why talk history, now we witness another country, China, overtaking us. Still we watch them moving ahead of us with our mouths wide open, blaming our government, our politicians, our fate for being in this state now.

When are we going to realize that these IT companies are ruining our ingenuity, our lives in fact. Where has our entrepreneurism, (which has been in our blood since ages) gone? Its high time we should stop being coolies to these giants and create a better India. At least the coming generations should have a better quality of life. Our ancestors made more money being self employed? Then why cant we? Whats wrong with us? Whats happening now is more like a colonization under the name of employment. Aren't we people involved in trades when they were still hunting animals for food. We had Vedas when they didn't have symbols for their language. Though we are capable enough, we dont want to use our talents in the right path. Lets stand up before we become handicapped.

I call upon the people who like to be a rebel and desire to take India to heights. Jai Hind...
